CAME - Center for Advanced Medical Engineering
Since 2008, medical technology at the Magdeburg site has developed into an internationally competitive and profile-building application-orientated research focus, which, among other things, has enabled the successful acquisition of the STIMULATE research campus with long-term funding. Imaging techniques, image-guided interventional methods and minimally invasive therapies have achieved particular visibility in medicine and the life sciences.
The centre is intended to bring together, expand and supplement the already established and visible structures. Existing and future focal point activities will be integrated into CAME as so-called co-operation platforms. On the one hand, these platforms will retain their independence, but will be very closely networked by CAME.
CAME thus contributes to the concretisation of the research content of a profile area of the OVGU that links centres and faculties, participates in its continuous development and contributes to the implementation of the resulting overarching objectives.
In order to strategically institutionalise medical engineering at OVGU and to intensify cross-disciplinary and cross-organisational networking in research, the OVGU Senate has decided to establish the "Center for Advanced Medical Engineering" (CAME).
Objectives:
(1) CAME integrates interdisciplinary and inter-faculty engineering, natural science and medically orientated as well as other research areas and key topics in the field of medical technology, in particular methods and techniques for imaging procedures as well as image-guided interventions and minimally invasive therapies, as well as methodology and technology platforms and coordinates their further development in the sense of an overall university profile development in the context of translational research and precision medicine.
(2) In addition to the acquisition of scientific knowledge, the centre also supports the transfer of knowledge and technology to industrial and clinical application.
(3) The centre serves to train and promote young scientists in the entire field of medical technology and also pursues the goal of increasing the national and international visibility of medical technology in Magdeburg.
